The purpose of Vermont's fish and wildlife laws is to help protect, manage, control and conserve fish,
wildlife and furbearing animals of the state in the interest of public welfare.
It is the responsibility of each individual who hunts, fishes or traps to know the fish and wildlife laws.
The Governor appoints fourteen members of the public, one from each county, to the Fish and Wildlife Board.
Each member serves for six years. The Board serves as the rulemaking authority for Vermont's fish and wildlife regulations.
The Fish and Wildlife Board normally meets each month to review rules currently being
proposed to the board
