Stocking Schedule
As warm weather approaches many of us are gearing up for the spring and summer fishing seasons. The five state fish culture stations are gearing up as well.
Trophy stocking
This year will be continuing our "trophy" fish stocking. The trophy program increases the number of Trophy fish stocked to almost 25,000 statewide. Nearly 30 miles of trophy water will be available for angling this season in Vermont. This is in addition to 36 ponds and lakes receiving about 25% of the fish stocked as trophy fish. So if you enjoy catching big fish this should be an exciting year.

Yearlings/Smolts
Inland waters of Vermont will be stocked with over 364,000 yearling landlocked salmon, brook, brown, lake and rainbow trout. This area encompasses over 500 miles of streams and rivers, and over 70,000 acres of lakes and ponds.
Lake Champlain will receive almost 250,000 yearling landlocked salmon, steelhead, brown, lake, and rainbow trout this year. And over 160,000 landlocked salmon fry will be stocked this year as well.
So whether you're wading a small stream, canoeing a mountain pond or trolling on Lake Champlain the opportunity to have a productive day on the water will be very good this year in Vermont.
