The Advanced Natural Resource
Inventory (NRI) offers opportunities for
getting a more in depth view of what's going on in
your community but it presents more of an expense
since it will probably require on-the-ground field
work and more advanced computer analysis. The
following is a list of ideas (though by no means
exhaustive) of the sorts of
projects a town might undertake to get a better idea
of what they've got.
An Advanced Natural Resource
Inventory could include such things as
- Natural
Communities Inventory
- Significant Wildlife
Habitats
- Water Resources
Evaluation (e.g. water quality studies)
- Wetland
Evaluation/Prioritization studies
- Agricultural Lands
Assessment
- Managed Forest Lands
- Undeveloped Shorelines
- Cultural features (e.g.
archaeological and historic sites, recreation
areas, scenic areas, designated scenic roads)
- Unique Geological
Resources

NRI. Be
aware that Advanced Inventories are more costly than
Basic NRIs and may require additional data
gathering.
