Wildlife Action Plan News and Information

Return to SWG/Action Plan Homepage

Defining a Vision for Conservation Success
In order to make the best use of the State Wildlife Grants program, Congress charged each state and territory with developing a statewide Wildlife Action Plan. These plans provide an essential foundation for the future of wildlife conservation and a stimulus to engage the states, federal agencies and other conservation partners to strategically think about their individual and coordinated roles in prioritizing conservation efforts in each state and territory

Conservation Plans with deliverable results
The Wildlife Action Plan is not just another plan. It is Vermont's first statewide all-species conservation strategy. The actions defined by Vermont's Action Plan are eligible for hundreds of thousands of dollars of federal funds annually for implementation. And with Action Plans for every state and territory we have a nationwide collective "plan" for safeguarding our wildlife legacy-more efficiently and cost-effectively.
